Prim Oil (Oenothera biennis) is extracted from wildflowers that grow in the USA. The oil which is actually a Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an Omega-6 essential fatty acid found in Borago and black currant seeds.
The human body can’t produce GLA itself, so it needs other sources. However, the body can transform another Omega-6 fatty acid - linolenic acid into Gamma-Linolenic acid found in nuts and vegetable oils.
Over the years people have used primrose seeds, leaves and even roots as food. The roots have been used to treat haemorrhoids, the whole plant has been used to treat bruising and the leaves have been used to heal wounds, gastrointestinal disorders and sore throat.
In the 1930s were found many other benefits of Primrose that treat health problems such as brittle nails and hair, eczema, PMS, rheumatoid arthritis, Raynaud's phenomenon, multiple sclerosis, diabetic peripheral neuropathy and other.
Prim oil was also used as a supplement during pregnancy to prevent high blood pressure, to reduce the birth time, to induce labour and prevent postmaturity.
Prim Borago Oil - a ratio of the substances:
Primrose oil of which 10% GLA;
Borago oil of which 20% GLA.
Prim oil has numerous therapeutic properties. It is well known that it reduces the pain during PMS and reduces chronic skin disorders such as eczema, acne and psoriasis. The oil is also used as an anti-inflammatory agent during menopause and in case of arthritis.
The second key substance in the product is Borage oil. It is actually pressed seeds of the plant Borago officinalis that grows in the USA and Europe. Borage oil is rich in gamma-Linolenic acid (an essential fatty oil). When consumed, Linolenic acid is transformed into gamma-Linolenic acid.
Like omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil and linseed, gamma linoleic acid helps reduce the inflammatory processes in the body. Both substances are classified as omega-6 fatty acids.
Borage oil is used to treat hormonal problems called Adrenal fatigue, to "purify the blood", to increase urine flow, to prevent inflammation of the lungs, as a sedative and to promote sweating. Borago is also used to increase the production of breast milk and to treat bronchitis and colds.
Borage oil can be applied on the skin to treat a red, itchy rash on the scalp of babies (seborrheic dermatitis) and is also used to soften the skin.
