Osteoarthritis is characterized by degenerative changes in the articular cartilage and subsequent growth of bone tissue. There are no accurate morbidity statistics in Bulgaria. Between 12-15% of the population suffers from osteoarthritis, and in people over the age of 70 - between 50 and 70%.

People underestimate the problem of osteoarthritis and go to the doctor at an advanced stage of the disease. With untimely and improper treatment, osteoarthritis can cause serious deformities and even disability.
