Vitamin D is one of the so-called fat-soluble vitamins, allowing its tissue storage. Under the influence of the sun's rays, it is synthesized in the human skin, but in order to produce it in sufficient quantities, regular sun exposure is necessary, which is often unattainable. Therefore, a proper and balanced diet is the main way to obtain sufficient vitamin D, which can also be supported by its additional intake as a dietary supplement.

The most common complications of vitamin D deficiency are related to bone density disorders, decreased serum calcium levels, development of osteoporosis and rickets, immune imbalances, especially in the form of autoimmune processes and frequent seasonal infections, endocrine disorders affecting the thyroid, reproductive system, menstrual cycle and fertility.
