Vitamin C is not just a basic antioxidant. This water-soluble vitamin has a key role in the normal immune system function and improves it. Vitamin C is responsible for: production of antibodies; production of B-lymphocytes (humoral immunity); production of interferon; improves the function of phagocytosis and t-lymphocytes function (cell-mediated immunity); improves prostaglandin production.
A key feature of vitamin C is to destroy the cells of the viruses and bacteria in the bloodstream.
On the other hand, the inflammatory process increases the oxidative stress and vitamin C reserves are exhausted firstly in the affected areas, because of the organism's ability to neutralise free radicals.
An important and neglected property of liquid Vitamin C is its role as a chelator agent - it gets the heavy metals out of the body.
