In shape after Easter. A 14-day detox plan

Detoxification can do so much more for you than make your eyes sparkly and your skin radiant. It boosts your energy levels, improves your digestion and helps you lose the few unwanted kilos. 

When it comes to modern diets – free of bakery products, alcohol, diary, sugar, detoxification is a much faster weight-loss tool. The purpose of each and every detox plan is to normalize your organism’s condition through the elimination of toxins from your liver, kidneys and intestines, while at the same time supporting and improving their productivity. If you want to strengthen your health and give your body a break, chose a short – term, 14 – day detox diet. 

Avoid:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes
  • Dairy products
  • Sugar, honey, maple syrup, artificial sweeteners
  • Coffee
  • Dried fruits
  • Grains: wheat (bread, biscuits, pastries, pasta). Rye, barley, oats and rice

Consume more:

  • Fruits: all kinds of fresh fruit
  • Vegetables: all kinds of fresh veggies
  • Fish: fresh, canned in own sauce or olive oil
  • Tender red meats. Skinless chicken meat. Limit to twice a week
  • Legumes: beans, chickpeas, lentils, dried or canned
  • Eggs, preferably organic
  • Extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil
  • Nuts: raw, salt free almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts, cashews
  • Seeds: raw sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds
  • Green tea, white tea, mild black tea (decaf)
  • Water – up to three liters a day

Your detox plan for the next 14 days:

  1. In the morning drink a glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice. This an old, yet golden technique for improvement of digestion and cleansing of the excretory system. Juice half a lemon in a glass of hot water. This should be the first thing you ingest in the morning.
  2. Exercise. Throughout the detox period you should strive towards exercising an hour daily. Preferably, opt for aerobic exercises, including walking, yoga, Chinese gymnastics, swimming… Exercises increase blood circulation and remove toxins.
  3. Raw foods. Limit your cooking, instead consume raw foods. They contain more nutrients and enzymes. Try to add fresh sprouts to your salad.
  4. Detox your mind. While striving to remove the bodily toxins, you should also try to get rid of all the negative thoughts from your consciousness. Try a 15 – minute daily meditation. If you don’t know how to meditate, start by placing your hands on your lower abdomen, palms facing down. Inhale slowly, while counting to 4. Exhale slowly. Repeat for 15 minutes.
  5. Drink water. Try to drink three liters of liquid a day. This will help your kidney detoxification. Consume fresh spring water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices, herbal teas.
  6. Body brushing. Brush your skin every day, this will improve circulation and increase skin detoxification. Exfoliate your skin before showering with the help of a loofah or a natural brush. Apply circular motion. Start from your legs and arms, pressing moderately. Continue with light, gentle movements for the more delicate areas, such as your face and neck. Afterwards take a shower. In order to increase blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, alternate between hot and cold water.
